Puff The Magic Dragon(퍼프와 재키) 부구초 4-3

울진 부구초등학교의 4학년 3반 학생 18명과 이혜리 담임 선생님이 1961년 뉴욕에서 결성되어 1970년에 해체된 미국의 대표적 포크송 트리오 Peter, Paul & Mary(피터, 폴 앤 메리)가 불러서 크게 히트를 했던 'Puff the magic dragon'을 직접 그림을 그려서 동영상과 함께 유튜브에 올렸다. 

 

나도 이제 연식이 제법 오래되어서 그런지 이런 것을 보면 갑자기 울컥해진다. 이 노래의 악보를 어렵게 구해서 2년 전에 잠시 연습하다가 다시 악보를 보게 되었는데 유튜브에 이 동영상이 있었다.

 

유튜브에 올려진 'Puff the magic dragon' 동영상은 많았지만, 큰 감흥은 없었는데 이 동영상이 가장 마음에 들었다.  

 

소연, 수아, 성환, 대성, 지효, 나윤, 용규, 주희, 진서, 관우, 주연, 승욱, 가은이 그리고 다른 친구들 정말 그림 잘 그렸구나!

 

지금은 잘 모르겠지만, 너희들은 울진 바닷가 부구초등학교에서 '마법 용 '퍼프'의 이야기와 이혜리 선생님과의 추억이 얼마나 소중했는지 너희들이 대학생이 되고, 사회에 나가서 직장을 갖고, 또 결혼하고, 어른이 되어서 너희들과 같은 자녀를 갖게 된다면 비로소 알게 될 것이란다. 

 

경북의 오지에서 어린 학생을 가르치는 여선생님이 참 좋은 아이디어로 어린이들에게 꿈의 세계를 그림으로 표현하게 하고, 유튜브까지 올린 것에 대해서 정말 감사한 마음을 가진다. 

 

큰 도시에서 별 어려움 없이 교사직을 수행하는 것과는 달리 모든 것이 부족하고, 어려움이 많았을 조건을 극복하고 이런 훌륭한 발상을 한 것에 대해서 경의를 표한다.

 

2016년에 올린 것을 참고하면 학생들은 이미 고등학교 1~2학년에 재학 중일 것이고, 이혜리 선생님은 이미 다른 학교를 전근 가셨을 것이니 서로 만나지는 못하겠지만, 그래도 이런 좋은 인연으로 성인이 되어서도 학생들은 이혜리 선생님을 잊지 않기를 바란다.
